Good to know
Welcome to The Gateway Barn — a newly renovated, modern 400 sq ft retreat perched above a detached garage, just steps from the main house where our family resides. With vaulted ceilings and thoughtfully designed amenities, this peaceful space is surrounded by trees and nature—an ideal place to reset after a day of adventure or work. The well-appointed kitchenette features high-end stainless steel appliances, fully stocked cupboards, and everything you need to prepare a meal—from pots and pans to utensils galore. Start your day with a complimentary pod in the Keurig, and settle into the cozy breakfast nook to sip your coffee, keep the cook company, or get a bit of work done. We've also included a curated selection of local wines available for purchase—cheers! Enjoy sit-down meals at the four-person dining table, and unwind in the evenings with your choice of Netflix, Hulu Live, Disney+, Paramount+, and Amazon Prime. The bathroom is stocked with plush oversized towels, a hair dryer, and essential toiletries for your comfort. At night, sink into a luxurious King-size Casper mattress with ultra-soft bedding for a truly restful sleep. Step outside to grill on the private deck’s BBQ or enjoy a quiet moment at the bistro table just downstairs. You’re just minutes away from hiking, walking, and mountain bike trailheads—less than 5 minutes on foot or 2 by bike. Downtown Issaquah’s restaurants and shops are a quick 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk via the Rainier Trail. Prefer skiing? Snoqualmie Pass is just 40 minutes away, and downtown Seattle is under 25. If The Gateway Barn is unavailable and you're a small group, please message Kelsey to inquire about staying at The Gateway House (our main residence) or The Gateway Getaway—both just a few doors away and equally welcoming.
Other Details to Note
The trampoline in the back yard is off limits. But feel free to romp around the backyard as needed. For all direct and VRBO reservations, a guest verification notification will be sent via Truvi, our trusted platform for identity and background screening. Pets: The Gateway Barn welcomes friendly and well behaved pets only for an additional fee ($100 min for 2 night stay). We then charge $15/day post that time for 1 pet and $10/day for the second pet. Pets are not allowed on the bed or any furniture (we kindly ask you not to book please if your pet is unable to stay off the furniture within reason, please place a blanket even for small animals on top of the furnishings to prevent access hair for our commonly used furnishing and bedding). Additional fees may apply if so. The pet fee should cover use, and wear & tear of the space but if its overly dirty there may be additional cleaning costs after your stay requested. This can be an active property as its shared with our family who can potentially be coming in an out often, so if your pet is very noise sensitive it is something to consider when booking. If quietness is something you are searching for it is often mostly quiet but not a guarantee. Your pet needs to be pet and child friendly. No smoking/vaping anywhere on the property. Wild Life Preserve: this property is right next to one so note its not uncommon to see wildlife. Stink Bugs! They are the 2025 locust. I am sorry there is not much we can do about these creatures sneaking inside. Our best advice is to attempt to remove from the house without killing. They are pretty stinky if you do kill them. Activity planning: There are extensive bike and hiking trails that can be accessed within minutes of the Gateway's driveway. As a lifelong Issaquah resident, my family and I can help you design the perfect itinerary, whether it be hiking, mountain biking, brewery hopping, concert going or simply relaxing. We're proud of our Issaquah community and look forward to sharing some of it with you. For stays longer than 28 days, our standard procedure includes: - Signed lease agreement - Background check - Refundable security deposit: $1000 Additional requirements: - Deep cleaning fee: $50 - Regular cleaning fee: Required every 30 days Pet Policy: We love hosting your furry companions! To help maintain the cleanliness and comfort of our space for all guests, a pet fee will apply based on the length of your stay: 7–14 Days: $200 for 1 pet 14–30 Days: $350 for 1 pet, $500 for 2 pets 30+ Days: $500 for 1 pet, $750 for 2 pets Please let us know in advance if you’ll be bringing a pet so we can prepare the space accordingly. Thank you for helping us keep our home welcoming, pet-friendly, and well cared for!
